Summary
The Steward Middle Magnet School shoreline restoration project Tampa, Florida about 2,000 feet of shoreline. It is visible to the public from the water or the shoreline walkway and also serves as a hands-on learning lab for students at the school. The project was designed by the Ecosphere Restoration Institute and carried out by the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Work included removing invasive plants from the eroding bank and adding materials like coconut fiber mats, a rock revetment to stabilize the shoreline, and native plants to restore the natural habitat. Due to a steep slope moderate wave energy, shoreline terracing was used.
