Bayview Park

Bayview Park Shoreline Post Implementation

Summary

The Bayview Park shoreline restoration project is located at a public park in Pensacola, Florida and covers approximately 0.38 acres. It was led by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Northwest Florida Aquatic Preserves in collaboration with several partners. The project began by removing invasive upland plants, adding sand fill, and grading the shoreline. Later, oyster reefs were installed and native plants were added. Because the site is on city-owned submerged lands, additional permitting was required. This medium-energy site used recycled oyster shells in mesh bags and more than 10 locally sourced native plant species to help stabilize the shoreline.
